Dear Diary,
Long overdue, but All That Jazz 3:
Aaron Rimbui (via Kipawa Music) has created something to look forward to every second month. The beauty of which lies in tha fact that I don't have to plan out an entire itinerary to make it: Thursday evening, all you have to do is tell you busy-body of a boss "Cheers!" and the music melts you troubles away.
Unlike that other Saturday/Sunday afternoon stuff that you need to plan around so many people.
I kid you not Diary, the first thing that crossed my mind during this track was:
'So now that [insert name here] is not around, nitasaidikaje?'
Thankfully, later on in the show, as @ArcherMishale, @KevDaNative, @AKenyanGirl and @ItsMugambi can confirm, a lady by the name Winnie saved the day.
We even fought over her. Kinda.
Say what you must to exonerate yourself, AKenyanGirl.
Part of why All That Jazz, even on its 3rd edition, has already earned itself quite the reputation, is the inviting of the different artistes. Smart way for the chap to show off his ability to adapt to different styles of music, all the while remeining typically "Krucial Keys". And Patricia Kihoro did not disappoint either. In fact... Focus Marcus, Focus.
In my initial description of this particular post that features Chris Adwar, I talked of it being about leadership and trust. Turns out I was just slightly delusional when noting it down, it's actually about (as Mr. Adwar corrected me with Polycarp Otieno - yes, that one of SautiSol - laughing in the background) trust and unconditional love.
At least I had the "trust" part nailed down.
"Nailed." *mind drifts* I have a story for you Diary... *slaps self, back to earth*
Maybe later.
I need to tell you something about the name "Rimbui". Here's the deal: That entire family was just spoon-fed the gift of music by God. As in, when some of us were being made, He said, "You dance, you rap (badly), and you... What's your name? Rimbui, ey? Just find anything musical and run with it. Yes Aaron, you can rap on your brother's head while Tim here stretches you around like an archodeon."
(Could someone remind me how many they are anyway?)
You get the idea.
So having any one of the Rimbui siblings on stage is trauma enough.
Then there's having 2 of them:
You remember Just A Band, right? C'mon diary, of course you do: You and I started the Makmende meme, remember? Well, they (and by "they", I mean JAB, Aaron and Joe Were) claim that this was never rehearsed.
Aaron also sampled a bit of Earth Wind and Fire, the video to which you know the location, don't you?
And of course, trust Aaron to throw in a grand finish:
Talk to you in a few Diary. But I do want to mention: Yesterday, an acquaintance of mine in South Africa sent out a tweet that warmed my heart:
Ciao.
Oh: And Hugh Masekela was around.
Marcus.
Pssst: Following threats to my virtual existence by this character, and her comrade in arms this one (Identities not explicitly revealed for mine own protection), I will acknowledge something. Fine, it happens to be true, but [dramatically] I WILL NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS!
However beautiful they might be.
That's not the point.
So in truth, they were quite cool, our ushers for the night. It's kinda odd that they doubled up as bouncers too... No? Ok.
Now don't kill me. Please. For my children. The unborn ones.
But I thought I had called dibs on this Winnie character?
